Special Occasions

The Montrose offers charming Chicago apartments in various sizes that are great not just for everyday living but also holiday events. Following are some ideas you might want to consider for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

Red, white and blue decorations are great yet commonplace. Why not try having an event with food in these three colors? For drinks, fill a pitcher 1/3 full with cranberry juice, add blue Gatorade Frost and then top it up with 7 Up or Sprite. Use food coloring to create patriotic cakes, cookies, biscuits, deviled eggs and more.

A flag garland isn’t hard to create. You simply need to run a string from the top end of one side of the room to the other and then stream red, white and blue paper streamers over it. This classy decoration immediately changes the ambiance of any apartment, giving it a festive spirit.

There are a number of patriotic games you can pick from. One game is Fourth of July jar. Fill a large bowl or jar with red, white and blue candies and have your friends and family guess how many candies are in the bowl or jar. Patriotic Balloon Pop is also lots of fun. To play, simply place a “You Win” note in one deflated balloon, blow up all the balloons and then scatter them around the room. Whoever pops the balloon with the winning note inside gets a prize.

The Montrose also offers some great community amenities that you can take advantage of when planning a party for family and/or friends. Our community has a new billiards room, resort-style swimming pool, a new Hazel lounge and a sundeck with grills and picnic space.
